The Bills 1-14 implemented this fall do not do one thing to positively lift Albertans up, reduce their costs or support them at all. These 14 Bills sole purpose is to prop up the agenda of this failing social/economic experiment. Fail 3
The last Fail is the selling off of the assets of the province be it institutional, environmental or the human capital. Fail 4
Don't pay attention to how Smith speaks or what she says. The misinforming whether done artfully or not is just SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for her. As they say in Missouri: "Don't tell me, show me." Alberta is not exactly the Show Me province under this crew.
It’s like deja vu because I swear I had this conversation last week. Someone so untrustworthy it’s not worth asking the question, yet, it’s the only thing we have, as useless as it may be.
I never votre for the UCP under either leader. I spotted the Trumpist in both of them. Everyone knew what Smith was like going way back in time ie school board fiasco, long links to separatists. How she ever was selected as leader is beyond me but it was not an easy win as it took 9 go arounds. Re separatists, the Alberta separatists keep saying well if Quebec can do it …. oh, yeah, Quebec did it. They killed their economy with their own hand when corporations left the province and 37% of the population/tax base exited en masse after the 1995 referendum. Within 3 days after the referendum (which was NO to separation) head offices and other businesses made media announcements re their moves. Head offices moved out in droves. How I ended up here as my head office moved here. We were not even told in advance before the media release 3 days after the referendum. I found out on my drive home from work listening to the news on the radio jn my car. I can bet you bottom dollar they are now planning their exit from Calgary. Separatist chatter, referendums kill investment and growth. Corporations like stability. They go where there is stability. Separatist chatter is economy/job killer. Unemployment rises. Real estate market tanks due to the volume of homes hitting the market. Why do you think Quebec has such a huge citizenry of immigrants. They needed them to replace all the Quebec born citizens who left separatism behind.
Maybe Smith has some faint vague notion that she is not governing competently. Instead of trying to do better, she puts the blame on government for not being easy to do and decides government should be destroyed.
I disagree with your description of Brian Jean and Rebecca Schulz. I've always seen Schulz as the energy boss (second to Smith of course) while Jean was the sidekick. Maybe they switched places recently, I dunno.
B. Jean & R. Shultz are just inept as Smith, RS just more quietly so. When it suited them to speak against a proposed Alberta Sovereignty Act, it was a "fairy tale" for Jean at least.
Where there's a lot of public money and/or private opportunity involved like health, education and energy, Smith is the de facto minister.
When planning & execution don't align with legal reality, the notwithstanding clause will see them through.
The energy boss in the wild rose scheme of things is CAPP, American controlled and if you are like Kenney hinting that royalty holidays are over, time for Albertans to collect something, you are gone.
For all the rural discontent noted in this post, Albertans know that in any election rural constituencies always vote Conservative. I feel like to changing my name to ‘Hopeless in Alberta’.
It's usually always about the money so where is it here? I've heard coal royalties are negligible. Some minor economic development in Crows Nest Pass. Dozens of jobs. Where's the money? Where's the upside period? Unless there's bags of cash changing hands I'm at a loss as to why this is even happening.
