The size of the audience intrigues me. Have people just tuned all of this out?
Interesting side note… “his friend Tom” was the guy from the Whistle Stop crashing a party. I was there. The Unity Van from Forever Canadian was making a visit to my town so Chris Scott and his iPhone film crew showed up. True… he wanted to engage Thomas Lukaszuk. So began this one on one discussion right in front of me. Scott’s one point that he returned to several times was that he would still be a Canadian even after separation. Mind boggling awareness. Thomas gave him more than a few minutes and then with practiced political skills extracted himself.
The problem is- if you watch and listen , it’s clear a lot of separatist belief , in Alberta, comes from people who are ill informed, perhaps admire loud, glib politicians because they see loud and glib, and rude, as strength.
Even their grievances are not based on them understanding all they need to understand, around what the federal government has done over the years, related to Alberta, it appears.
I think they are not “bad ass adults”. I think they’re immature and misguided people.
As long as they gather to listen to the fanatical, and the opportunists, they are having their personal needs met, whatever those may be.
But when anything is run on emotion, city, country, province, you have what we have in Alberta; and what just happened in Germany.
To see all of the MLAs in BC leave that awful new “Conservative “ leader was encouraging. There’s hope sanity can prevail.
In Alberta? I don’t think we know how dangerous Danielle and her fanatical and/or opportunistic organization is.
It serms like a very big, irrational number of people that are widespread around the world. -Stephen Harper and his IDU…..
Stephen Harper being placed in the AIMco chair suggests that, in my view.
The events that are targeting separatists will bring more of those individuals in for sure, but some people really are looking for assistance with those questions. I have my thoughts on why they're there and after seeing these two events I'm really thinking "so why don't I try, too?"
The covid mandates were all provincial. The federal government just supplied the vaccines, the funding to help support businesses, etc. The masking protocols, social distancing, were all managed at the Provincial level across Canada. They are angry re masking, social distancing, school policies but all these was provincial jurisdiction under Public Health. Had nothing to do with Ottawa.
This post convinced me to become a paid subscriber but I'm still disheartened and stressed out about this whole moment in time. Living in rural AB is not very encouraging for me right now. 😒
I so admire you, Ma’am, for going where angels and many men fear to tread in order to gather and spread the truth about these scoundrels who have infested AB for far too long, ahem, NOTWITHSTANDING the historical if vacuous belief that there are no rats in this province. Ever notice that “The Rat-free Province” has NEVER been on AlberDUH’s license plate? I wonder why that is!

I was referring to the societal event. The Village Idiots are unlikely to understand jurisdictional nuance.
I know these areas you've visited and I'm glad you wrote about those meetings.
Your column may influence me to adjust how I write a few upcoming columns.
It does seem there are the rapid die-hard separatists, but not counted are the ordinary Albertans just wanting answers.
