He said “think of your friends — who do you want to spend time with? Bring something to every column that entices them to spend three minutes with you.” I was hoping I do that!
There’s a line in You’ve Got Mail that has always stuck with me; “I like to start my letters to you like we’re already in the middle of a conversation,” and that’s how I try to think of my writing. As a bonus, it’s a reminder to make sure I fill in the blanks if I start directly in the middle of a conversation I’ve been having in my head all day 😏
