That we can't see that the oil & gas horse has left the barn and the long-term energy economy is very much electric centric is frustrating!
I was working for the Conference Board of Canada in 2014 and we put out a short report in December stating that that year would be a high water mark for spending in the oil sands ($54 billion) and we were heading for a low price cycle for the coming years. Premier Prentice called us “outliers” and “Laurentian Elites”. And yet ……..

I just watched a video you shared and thought about how I try to enlighten without burdening. Yet, he was right-- who unburdens us? I've had people say "write about how hard it is to keep up" but the whole point is to reach people who don't want to find it hard to keep up. So, I worry about being too much or too deep. And everything else I don't share so I don't overwhelm. But man... there's a lot.
First know that your passion matters and secondly it makes a difference.
We are drowning in the negativity of the alt right and the endless illogicality of it. The connected disconnectedness of it all baffles me. That’s what disables those of us who care.
I often write, and rewrite, and rewrite the most scathing letters to the Mrs Moretta’s of the world. I refine the anger out till it’s pure logic without all the you#^%}#. It helps me.
But a bit of humour helps sell it all.
Several years ago when Smith lived across the street from me she and her husband were dismantling an arbour, trying to more accurately.
My son had come down from the city and we were involved in some project on the driveway and called across the street to see if they wanted help. “No”
An hour later they’ve literally gotten nowhere so the two of us slipped across the street and dismantled the arbour in a few minutes. David Moretta said thanks. Dani, zippo.
I mentioned the lack of a simple thanks from her when my son pointed out I was wearing a Notley Crew tshirt. The irony was sweet.
One would think it would be easier but it’s not. She’s saying one thing publicly and another to her base and the two shall never meet, thanks to the increasing refusal of people to talk to one another. As one possible reason.
