While I struggle with seeing anything extraordinary about Steven Harper I literally cannot see a single redeeming feature in Poilievre. He stands alone as the most divisive, inept, one dimensional politician Canada has ever produced. To think that a mere 18 months ago we were resigned to him being PM.

Spencer Fernando (former right wing guy who has tempered a lot) was on Rob Breakenridge the other day and he posited that former CPC MPs temper some of the old Trudeau Liberals, which helps push some projects forward. I’ll grab the link— it’s really good.
Excellent overview! The PP hubris is incalculable! Of course he has everything to loose: government housing & servants, a high-paying job … he lost respect a long time ago. But, he can hang on to that chip on his shoulder that seems to support the worm in his brain. Grievance is his middle name while CDNS are voting for expert leadership!
Good job on noting the dangerous essence of PP’s “divisiveness” - i.e. vilifying Liberals (and, I guess, anyone who votes liberal) as non-Canadians. Same old politics of contempt, beughh… I can only imagine that more MPs will be reconsidering their party alignment in the cold, ugly light of that petulant outburst. The man’s a dead albatross.

In my ongoing defense of floor-crossing as a mechanism that PROTECTS democracy, I argue that the MPs are the truest bellwether of the mood of the public. They can read the headlines, but they are also (hopefully) talking to their constituents - all of them, not just the ones that voted for them. Their own instinct for self-preservation will push them to stay aligned with the voters in their ridings.
PP has lost 4 MPs in 6 months, only 1 year after an election. And he's not just lost them to sit as independents, but to the governing side. THEY see the icebergs, and are heading for the lifeboats. And last night PP told them they should hurry.
Good read. Your points in regard to Canadians' wants, our federal government's strategy and the petulants of Poilievre are spot on. Thank goodness Mark Carney is captaining this ship in this turbulent time. The world is looking for someone to be the voice of reason in all of this and all agree it is Mark Carney.
With a quiet humour and unwavering stance of strength against bullies Canada is showing the world we can all do this. What I most appreciate is our PM doesn't sugar coat the work ahead. Will we go into debt, yes. Will we struggle, yes. Will we come out way ahead, yes. And the world is not just watching their joining the team.
When he's had reasonably good reviews (other than MG's departure) for a few months and then, like a petulant child trying to be good for Santa, loses his s**t and reverts to his trumpistic posting posture.
He has shown sufficient lack of maturity to never be PM.
He has free housing, security, transportation, house keeping, groundskeepers, nannies … he is a kept citizen for delivering nothing. Why would he complain? That is a sweet gig … requires no skill, little effort, huge salary and everything is free. It is a huge grift paid for by us taxpayers.
Here’s hoping that eventually the Conservative party gives him the old heave ho!
And I have a suggestion, once PP is out of Stronaway….move the Prime Minister in and make Stornaway the Prime Ministers residence. Canada is the only country in the world that provides subsidized, paid for by tax dollars, housing for the leader of our Opposition party.
Why on earth did Canada ever decide that we needed to pay for not only the Prime Minister‘s residence which is a dump, and not safe to live in and at the same time have this beautiful mansion that the leader of the Opposition and his family live in which has been kept in immaculate condition?
I find Pollievre again disconnected from reality by rage.
If I’m not mistaken he had the same opportunity to bring MP’s across the floor to his side of the aisle. It’s not, as implied, a one way gate. The gate, unlike Pollievre ‘s intellect opens each way.
