The NDP brought in farm worker legislation and that offended the rural community. Who were the city elites to tell them how to treat labour. FM the labour had no protections.
Last election if some nutbar in the NDP brain trust hadn’t decided one week out to announce a business tax of 2% they wouldn’t have lost the election by 1,825 votes.
So, asking on behalf of a province- if we don’t like the new new realignment can we get a do over like Dani?

Dierdre, I am from Saskatchewan and first started paying attention to the politics in Alberta when Jason Kenny opened up the Rockies to coal mining.
I am going to be 68 years old this year and have watched our governments in Saskatchewan cycle through conservatives creating debt and chaos and the NDP coming in and balancing the books by making some hard decisions.
I was aware of Peter Lougheed and very impressed by him placing legislation to protect the Rockies because he understood the importance of the headwaters and what it meant to Saskatchewan and Manitoba and our water supply.
He did a lot of good for Alberta and displayed common sense and integrity. I would have voted for him despite the fact that he was conservative.
Then came Jason Kenny and Danielle Smith and in Saskatchewan, Grant Divine, Brad Wall and Scott Moe.
These people call themselves conservatives but something changed and the people kept following blindly under the banner of the name.
It seems voters today have lost the ability to judge personalities.
People don’t scrutinize what they say and how they say it and hold that against what they do. They trust blindly without using common sense.
When I watched Sonya Savage deliver her decrees, I watched a woman who stood in front of the cameras and lied through her teeth and had many tells to prove it.
It wasn’t hard to see through Jason Nixon and Brian Jean willing to sell their souls and do the bidding of their fuhrer.
Our legislature in Saskatchewan is full of these people who lack integrity and seem to be able to lie quite easily.
The NDP in Saskatchewan today is not the NDP that I am proud to be a member of.
They’ve chosen centrist Road when our society needs to be proud of being left and woke. Anything to get a vote.
We have Tammy Robert, posting on Substack about the back room deals and corruption going back through the 90s. Grant, Brad and now Scott displaying anything but socialism or the health and well-being of Saskatchewan and its people. She has followers but her words are being ignored by far too many.
As the United States of America slips further and further into fascism, Canada follows along unable to see all the warning signs.
I envision societies where we take care of each other.
Where we value each and every person and we strive to treat all with respect and dignity.
A society where value is not placed on money but on caring and everyone succeeding together.
Capitalism, colonialism, greed and fear seem to be winning.

We all have to stick together to ensure a future for our grandchildren where they have opportunities to flourish and contribute.

I have a few issues with “conservative” leadership today but one that I am most dumbfounded by is their attempt to be so local that they are actually worse. The U.S. is finding out now how a few dollars in Panama kept Texan cattle safe. We are not only impacted by what happens within our borders and it’s scary when people act like we can shut everything else out. Which brings us to separatism and Iran and … thank you for sharing :) We reach so much further than we know <3
Can you explain why the NDP govt in 2015 was so jarring? Was it something specific, or just the fact of having something other than the Conservatives in power? As a city leftie I would like to understand this better.
The right leaning found it to be a total breakdown of Alberta as they believe that Alberta must remain Conservative. That is why the UCP was formed by Kenney. That is when I knew this province was not a healthy democracy. Those voters truly function more like a cult.
They keep voting against themselves being beholden to “a doctrine” that does not even exist. The UCP are not Conservative. Never have been, never will be. Just as the US is taking away all supports for seniors and disabled as they find them too costly to keep, they are doing everything in their power to “k*ll them off and Dani is doing the same through various channels/law changes and defunding healthcare. A large percentage of the enraged cult members (no other word for them) are seniors. They are truly consistently voting for their own demise.
The Notley NDP (really NDP/Liberal) government was probably the most stable, non interventionist and informed government (other than the Bill 6 screw up) since Lougheed. This despite the UCP assholes like Grifter Fildebrandt promoting lies and fear tactics.
Kenney pulled the floor crossers who ruined things for Prentice into the fold and Alberta has suffered since. Although he does seem to have found a bit of humility over time, and if not him somebody else would have found the shotgun for the wedding, Kenney's actions and irrational fear mongering about the most centrist government in 30 years got him a dishonest win in 2019 and the rest of us stuck with a fractured and intellectually/philosophically fractured (and morally bankrupt ) government ever since!

Basically a lot of bad actors played on people’s fears. The NDP support exists in rural— but it’s not really “out”. Black Hats still run the place.
Conservatives want gravel or dirt roads. Open carry firearms. No police. No courts. No federal government. No taxes. No organized medical system. They want freedum!!!!

The NDP must look to the next election with the ridings rigged as outlined, and come out with policy to match. There are issues that are universal. The NDP was first to position themselves as the anti-separatist party. They are, and have always been the party of Healthcare. Focus needs to be there.
I am surprised by Monte Solberg. His pro-Canadian stand is great, but at the same time, he appears to be working to keep the UCP in power despite the separatists in their midst. (Assuming he endorses this map.)
