From the May 22 West of Centre podcast, a treat for those listening to the very end: The observation that there is now less daylight between the Alberta and federal governments on pipelines, than there is between the Alberta government and the oil industry. Everything between Edmonton and Ottawa is all rosy, but the oil guys have Questions. Like, presumably, who's covering all the financial risk here? And, most certainly since last week, will this be crossing a provincial border, or an international one?
Hasn't Smith already indirectly informed Albertans we'll be paying for it. I suspect it'll be through service cuts or maybe our taxes will go up. Either way the oil companies will walk away from their agreements to be responsible corporations and the government let them. While we're fighting over this, oil still wants us to pay for their carbon capture plans. Again why is a responsible corporation pretty much demanding government pays for them to clean up after themselves, it's their toxic product.
My property taxes went up and Alberta the province is taking 42%. Of course that could be going to private schools and private healthcare facilities, but it should be going to public education and Municipal infrastructure
Just think, in Sylvestre's republic you won't have to worry about taxes, or money for public schools, there won't be any. Or any public service, you'll pay for it all. Rath and Sylvestre never say this part out loud.
Thinking about the combination of private healthcare without the maid option. They will be keeping you alive until they can squeeze every penny out, so there is nothing to leave for your heirs
She probably still wants to steal our CPP money to pay for it. She will probably rob Albertans of the money instead of making the greedy oil industry pay.
There's an argument in favour of government "de-risking" big, nation-building projects. And it might not be a problem, if it weren't for the strong likelihood that another bitumen pipeline will run smack into the global energy transition, which is only being accelerated because of Donald's Operation Epic Failure.
All the more reason NOT to be using pension money.

Let me get this straight. If B.C. in whole or part belongs to Canada, then logic tells us that Alberta belongs to Canada, too. Smith leaves Canada and the pipeline stays with Canada, or never gets built at all because the MOU is between Canada and a province, not Canada and an American territory. Either the perpetual stream of her own lies is getting harder for her to keep up with or her train is derailing, or both.
She's not wrong about the coasts. But, by the same logic, the air doesn't belong to the provinces, either. Which is useful to remember when Dani spouts off about "punitive" environmental regulations.

As I contemplate the nonsensical argument that Smith presents vis a vis what’s Canada’s in her mind versus reality I believe I have a home grown solution to my particular problem.
I have zero interest in being part of any of Dani the Deniers plans. Therefore I have decided that the neighbourhood I live in in High River, Logan’s Hill, will henceforth be a sovereign Free Neighbourhood within Canada.
We do not and will not acknowledge a Separate Alberta.
Now should Alberta separate they will have to negotiate international agreements with the Free Neighbourhood of Logan’s Hill a Sovereign State within Canada.
As the first act of this Sovereign State we are hereby banning and deporting UCP members and separatists.
Logan’s Hill welcomes any and all other people, ethnicities, races, all genders, all abilities because we’re better together.
Step aside, step down, pack your bags Dani. We’re fed up with your destruction.

Did you know Smith recorded her referendum announcement most likely on May 19? (her clothes in a photo she tweeted) So she was not being democratic even before the committee's premature press release was sent out on May 20 and its vote on May 21.
Also she claims it is a citizen-initiated referendum, but no citizen asked for the crappy question she decided to impose on Albertans. So that is a lie.
No matter how many people with credibility tell her she's wrong, she's not. I'd probably feel better rolling a rock up a hill all day! ;)
