This incredible outrageous preoccupation with young folks and 'sex' is so bazar as to generate a BIG distraction from the issues important to most citizens: Budget Deficits; Tylenol scandal, alleged corruption still under investigation with AHS; charging for COVID vaccines; appropriating federal funding for AB folks with disabilities, coal mining $$ settlements to Australian companies; Curious pronouncements by the Energy Regulator; Crazy separation panel tour; not to mention forrest fires, or pronouncements on 'approved' immigration etc.
Swirling controversy seems to be dizzying enough to distract citizens from what good governance might look like. AB under this UPC regime seems to have no end of issues.
Sigh… Agreed with everything you said. And all this for what? What’s the actual risk here? We’re talking maybe a handful of trans girls who JUST WANT TO PLAY A DAMN SPORT! Seriously. How much government churn to produce creepy legislation for a few kids. It’s sick.

Someone shared something with me recently about how if one option had them earning $10 and the other person $20, and the other option had them losing $10 but the other person lost $20, some people would still choose the second because they don't want the other person to be better off, but they don't care if they're slightly worse off so long as the other person is more worse off.
What bothers me, aside from the misogyny, is the government interference in the businesses in which they have no place. Sports organisations are allowed to and should define who, what age and how individuals can participate in their sports jurisdiction. Schools have always reviewed material for appropriateness of grade/maturity level of the student. When there were school librarians they even suggested alternatives when they thought a book was not appropriate for a particular student. But no, the government has to put on this performative display so the Premier doesn't lose the votes of the bigots in her Party.
The next step down this slope is that women can’t compete with men. Full stop.
Think about that in the context of the alt right and their ability to justify anything.
It could go like this. Women weren’t allowed to compete in sports, their brains and emotions mature earlier, they learn multitasking and critical thinking all because their competitive instincts weren’t channeled or challenged. How’s that fair to the bro’s? They’ll take all the high paying critical jobs leaving the boys to, well I guess become politicians since the only skill set required is to be 18 years old.
I go back to when I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s, the Nelson girls could all kick my ass then and I’ll bet now too. We used to play soccer against the three of them, maybe 5 or 6 of us. Kicked our ass every time.
I can’t keep up with the genders and the naming but I do know that gender is fluid, there’s way more than the social construct of the two of them currently named. I always look at a playground of kids and they just seem to work it out, given parents are excluded.
Both my kids were destined for the beer leagues, not the big leagues unlike nearly all their teammates (well parents for sure). They learned team play, they are both competitive and more importantly became decent human beings. My daughter wanted to play hockey with the boys but couldn’t till university. She would have been like the Nelson girls.
Now to add into this , again completely contrived bull shit of the Moretta government you want to have a report going to the government checking out some kids undercarriage. What bull shit. Who is the final arbitrator? Mrs Moretta?
Here’s a notion, let’s test politicians first competency first. Can they read? Are they literate? Can they do basic math? We know this current government in Alberta cannot write legislation, they don’t know how to read legislation, their critical thinking skills are awol. Mrs Moretta you pass the test first to see if you’re fit and while we’re at it perhaps someone, don’t know who, can check to see if you’re using the right washroom. It doesn’t seem so on the surface as you keep dropping these ballsy buffoonish pieces of policy.
