For sure. When the eldest two were 2 and 1, I had an opportunity to work Christmas and Boxing Day for double time. I figured they had no idea which day was Christmas so we celebrated on the 27th, which was lovely because everything was open when we had to get a DVD player for some gifts the kids got. It really changed my thinking around “the day”. And now that they’re growing/grown and making their own plans, I just want one day— any day will do — and it was very Christmassy all the same ❤️

Empty nester really hits at Christmas as our children celebrate with their own children
But I feel the loss especially then.
