Conservatives will not be in power for a long time. They have proven themselves to be ineffective, incompetent, inept, and ridiculous. There was a time when conservatives were relevant, but that time has passed. They're so embroiled in grievance politics and conspiracy theories that they'll never dig themselves out of the hole they're in. And their base will not let them pivot either. They have the lunatics running the asylum, as Jason Kenney so eloquently put it. Until they can knock off the bullshit culture wars, quit punching down on vulnerable people, and come up with a serious plan that helps people, they'll be relegated to the shithouse. And right now, that's where they belong.
I honestly think the Conservative Party like being the opposition and have no interest in governing as that would mean they would have to deal with criticism and it's much easier to shoot spit wads that to actually roll up the sleaves and do the work of government.

Interesting! While I would agree that it wasn’t reflective of the party under Harper, or even Scheer and O’Toole, Poilievre pandered to the convoy crowds specifically. He went after the PPC support because they felt those voters contributed to losses of seats in Atlantic Canada and Ontario. Then you look at the MPs Poilievre signed off on (Jivani, Lawton, Baber, Scheer) it’s a frat house of people who couldn’t manage employment outside of politics. Now that’s not to say everyone involved is on board with it, or that every CPC supporter is happy about it (Teneycke, Kenney, etc), but from the leader down, that’s what I’d say *the party* is.
Angus Reid does a weird thing where they refer back to their baseline polling. I’ve had to search for it before because -18 from what? But what they’re reporting is from a baseline poll they did, perhaps before the election, and the numbers they have today are down this much… from that.

Peter Mackay sold the Conservative brand name to Reform for an undisclosed number of pieces of silver (remember the Conservative Reform Alliance Party — CRAP?) and the ouster of centrists and Red Tories was complete when Erin O’Toole was sent packing. That support for the so-called Conservative party is as high as it is just speaks to the fact that not everyone has figured out what it meant when Poilievre defeated Charest for the leadership.

As far as he”s concerned we are NOT at war with the US, they are still our friends and we should NOT be spending any of the money earmarked for Canada’s Military because that would make us militants and we’re all about Peace. As I’ve said repeatedly since the NDP leadership campaign Avi is NOT his father, not by a long mile, and he is incapable of reading the room!

It was highjacked by Harper when he “merged” with the PCs. Grievance voters are far more mobilized than governance ones— at least until election time.
